SEASIDE SCHOOL™ Half Marathon + 5K

Donation Goal: $100,000

ABOUT THE SEASIDE SCHOOL HALF MARATHON & 5K
The Seaside School Half Marathon & 5K is the annual charity race fundraiser that supports the Seaside Schools Foundation. Every year, the gap between the Seaside School standard of excellence and the funding provided by the state seems to grow more and more. There are either funding cuts or the schools simply want more for the students. In any case, the shortfall is significant each year. Participation and support of the annual fundraisers provides middle school and high school students in Walton County, Florida the opportunity to participate in elective classes for gardening, music, creative and culinary art, an award-winning robotics program, advanced placement classes as well as career-readiness industry certification courses.

A VISION FOR THE FUTURE
Seacoast Collegiate High School, grades 9 and 10, operates in five classrooms that are leased from Northwest Florida State College on the South Walton Campus. Students in grades 11 and 12 attend classes at Northwest Florida State College on the Niceville Campus. Funding for capital expansion is required to consolidate students at Seacoast Collegiate High School and expand the collegiate programs to more students in Walton County by adding additional instructional space for students in grades 9 - 12 and the community. An expanded South Walton campus will be the foundation for a collegiate education for all. The campus will offer Seacoast Collegiate High School core high school courses and electives. This expansion will create the dual enrollment center of Walton County and will provide resources for small businesses and professionals to thrive in Walton County through the creation of and programming at ”The Accelerator.”

ABOUT THE SEASIDE SCHOOLS
Our school was founded in 1996 as the Seaside Neighborhood School.  It was one of the first and it is now the oldest public charter school in the state of Florida. The original goal was simple – create a school to address the need for a middle school education in the south end of Walton County – and we haven’t stopped since.  We enroll over 400 students in grades 5 through 12. The middle school campus, Seaside Neighborhood School, serving students in grades 5 through 8, is located in the iconic beach town of Seaside, FL. The high school campus, Seacoast Collegiate High School, serving students in grades 9 through 12 is located nearby at Northwest Florida State College's South Walton Campus. From the school conception until now, we have worked to foster success for the whole child. We are laying the foundation for success as a person and success as a student beginning in fifth grade.  By the time our students graduate, they have completed a collegiate program and are ready to continue their education or pursue employment that will make a positive contribution to society.
